ZeroEyes in Conshohocken has created an AI gun detection system that will alert authorities if a gun is identified in a school, writes Greg Payne for Fox 29.

The system which runs 24/7, 365 days is used at malls, stores, and schools across the country to detect guns and then determine whether the threat is real or not, before quickly notifying security and the authorities.

“The AI just decides if something is a gun, sends us an image, and then we verify whether it is or not,” said Rob Huberty, chief operating officer and co-founder of ZeroEyes.

Huberty said that almost 80% of the staff are veterans who wanted a position where they could continue to protect and serve.

“We are trying to bring in veterans, teach them IT, bring them up and this is a later position in their career,” he explained.

Some local schools like Germantown Academy in Fort Washington already have ZeroEyes installed.

“The goal is to stop the incident before it happens, but if it happens, to slow it down,” said Greg Keenan, the director of security at Germantown Academy.
