Perkiomen Valley Brewery in Green Lane Offers Great Beer and Inclusivity

By

Perkiomen Valley Brewery in Green Lane, run by Tom and Kelly Weiss, came to be out of the couple’s brewing hobby and the need for their sons, Noah and Jonah, both of whom are on the autism spectrum, to find employment, writes Nick Iadonisi for 6abc.

The brewery is fully focused on inclusivity.

“Part of our mission statement here with regards to inclusion and accessibility is to provide a welcoming environment to the community,” said Tom Weiss.

Despite the many hurdles they face in life, their sons are determined to succeed in their jobs at the brewery.

“What really is remarkable to me is with how many challenges they have, how persistent they have been in just doing life,” said Kelly Weiss.

The parents have noticed huge changes in the boys’ lives since they started working on bottling and labeling beer.

“For me to see him bottling today and doing everything, he literally had to learn almost every motor movement that he makes,” said Kelly Weiss.

The brewery has also made inclusive adjustments for any of its customers who may also be autistic, by including a dedicated sensory room.
