The owners of Limerick Homegrown Produce & Trading Post, Michael Panamarenko and his partner Jessie Kanagie, specialize in certified organically grown vegetables on their nine-acre farm, writes Courtney H. Diener-Stokes, for Main Line Times & Suburban.

They and their daughters have a passion for the fresh, organic vegetables they grow. So much so that Panamarenko centers every family meal around them.

Even now at the end of their growing season, they are enjoying a lot of greens and other garden favorites in their meals.

They sell their produce at Pottstown’s FARM: Farm & Artisan Regional Market and operate a Community Supported Agriculture program. They also sell to restaurants.

“We grow 30 to 40 different varieties of vegetables on the farm,” Panamarenko said. “We also raise honeybees and have local, raw, unfiltered honey.”

It was only three years ago that Panamarenko became a full-time farmer, leaving his family’s outdoor sporting goods business, inspired by his love of gardening.

“The primary reason was to live an independent lifestyle and a self-sufficient one and to pass those qualities onto the kids,” he said. “I also really like working outdoors.”

Once he made the switch, he and Kanagie worked with Rodale Institute in Berks County to help get their farm certified organic.
