West Chester Woman Makes Sensory Videos on TikTok for Those on Autism Spectrum

By

Erin Clemens, a West Chester resident who has autism, has started making sensory guide videos on TikTok for individuals on the autism spectrum, writes Nick Iadonisi for 6ABC.

“I am on the autism spectrum, so I’m giving my perspective as an adult point of view, for something that most people may not be aware of,” said Clemens.

Known as “aspergersadie” on TikTok, Clemens posts videos in which she shows herself visiting local businesses to prepare people for what to expect for their sensory needs and to see how businesses can better accommodate them.

“I also have these sensory issues that I experience where sometimes I feel like I get overstimulated and I just need to take a break,” she said.

Clemens hopes that her project will help those with autism who may be reluctant to visit local businesses due to their sensory issue concerns. Her first video focused on Sensory Fit, a gym focused on inclusivity, located at the Exton Square Mall.

“This kind of content is kind of needed in the community and I kind of needed it for myself but it wasn’t available, so I felt like I should be the one to do it,” she said.
