Delco: The Movie is about halfway done shooting at popular locations around the county with a film release sometime in late summer 2024.

A new movie currently being filmed around Delaware County hopes to capture the essence of the Delco spirit.

Delco: The Movie started filming last week at some familiar locations, writes Chris O’Connell for Fox 29.

Director Chris Pierdomenico, from Aston, talked about the film’s unique character, much of it based on his own experiences growing up in the county.

“Everybody has a love-hate relationship with Delco, and we just really wanted to celebrate that,” Pierdomenico said.

The teen comedy is set in 2004 Delaware County. It features “Clerks” actor Brian O’Halloran and” The Wire” star and Philadelphia native Anthony Wilson.

Scenes in the film include Wawa, the Media Theater, Pierdomemico’s alma mater Sun Valley High School, and the Tom Jones Restaurant in Brookhaven, where the director spent a lot of his time discussing life with his friends.

“I really, really leaned hard into the Delco angle,” said Pierdomemico. “Trying to get as many cameos and locations as we could and really make it a love letter to the area.”

The film also features many of his friends and even former teachers.

Delco: The Movie is halfway through shooting and will be released sometime in late 2024 on a streaming platform.
