Bradley Cooper’s star may have skyrocketed since his days at Germantown Academy in Fort Washington, writes Chuck Arnold for The New York Post, but he had heartthrob potential even then.

Arnold was first introduced to Cooper in 1993 when the then high school senior wrote a column titled “When best friends cross the line,” which was published in the “Fresh Ink” teen section of the Philadelphia Daily News.

Arnold was a young editor at the newspaper at the time.

Cooper wrote about whether best friends who are of the opposite sex can hook up with each other without destroying their friendship.

He wrote that in his case it was possible…” so far.”

He and his best friend Deborah Landes had crossed that friendship line during their senior year.

He was honest, however, about the emotional conflicts that such a relationship brings…how “suddenly you start to hate that guy she always told you was hot.”

He wrote that there was always “an underlying attraction” between the two of them.

It was clear even in high school that Cooper was in touch with his romantic feelings and that he could craft a good story long before he hit Hollywood.
