When Hatboro Borough’s Loller Academy needed HVAC renovations a few years back, the borough bought the former Spring Avenue school as a temporary Borough Hall, writes Dino Cilberti for Patch.

Now that the Borough will soon be moving back to Loller, the future of the Pennypack property is again in question.

Officials have conducted two surveys and are still not clear on the best way to repurpose the property, so they are asking for more feedback.

Wednesday night between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Hatboro residents were able to offer their recommendations for the future use of the space at the Pennypack Park Design Public Open House at the former school on 130 Spring Avenue.

The Pennypack Facilities Steering Committee has been working with the Borough and the Montgomery County Planning Commission to create a new plan for Pennypack.

The property won’t be demolished because of the high cost to do so but the Borough is considering all other options.

One idea is to preserve the property as a park and community center.

Only the Council can give the final approval on any plan.
