Hatboro fire chief Pete Croak is retiring after 35 years.

After nearly 35 years of outstanding service and leadership, personal sacrifice, and dedication, Hatboro fire chief Pete Croak is retiring, reported Dino Ciliberti for The Hatboro-Horsham Patch.

Colleagues and fellow volunteers recall that Croak was always the “first on the scene of a fire.”

“This is all volunteer time,” officials said. “This was a lot of missed family outings, time from work, and all hours of the day and night. If you listened to the radio, in most cases the first thing you heard after dispatch was ‘Chief 95 is responding.'”

Fred Zollers will assume the new role of fire chief for the Enterprise Fire Company of Hatboro. He, too, brings vast experience to the role.

Croak’s commitment to public safety extended beyond his immediate community. He also served as a volunteer for the Warminster fire company.

“We owe a lot to the Croak family and all of our dedicated volunteers from the Enterprise Fire Company for making sure when we need them, they’re coming,” said officials.
