The N.C. Wyeth house at 1597 Baltimore Pike in Chadds Ford is for sale at different prices depending on the buyer's wishes for the property.

Developer Wayne Megill of Chadds Ford has acquired the NC Wyeth house and is relisting the Chadds Ford home for sale using two different approaches—one with renovations and one as it is, writes Ryan Mulligan for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The 15-acre property at 1597 Baltimore Pike is being sold by Megill’s homebuilding and renovation company, Megill Homes.

The six-bedroom NC Wyeth house is listed as-is at $3.75 million or with Megill Homes’ suggested renovations for $4.45 million.

A third Megill plan calls for subdividing the Wyeth property into three lots to build a family compound.

“It’s a unique blank canvas for someone to paint on, and that’s fitting given its history,” said Wayne Megill..

It’s believed that Wyeth lived in the home for three years.  Historians say he painted the pictures for Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island in the carriage house.

An original structure was built on the site 1755, with the main house built in 1801. It is believed to be the site of the original Chadd’s Tavern.

Megill Homes bought the property for $2.4 million from the Camp family who lived there for almost 20 years.
