Opening weekend (Nov. 9) is  just a few weeks away, and on Nov. 15 Mr. John O’Hurley himself will be on our new stage taking questions from the audience about the book he wrote that inspired the play.

My son asked a question, as little boys do,
Of me in my wisdom and all that I knew.
“Is there a dog that is perfect?” he asked on a whim.
Well, I thought,
And I thought about where to begin.

With all the wonderful kinds of dogs in the world, is there really just one kind that is better than all the rest? John O’Hurley’s delightfully charming and Seuss-like poem answers that question with a surprisingly perfect answer. This heartwarming message about man’s best friend, accompanied by photographs that capture the essence of dog-ness, is sure to be treasured by dog lovers and non-dog lovers alike.

The Perfect Dog is a musical adapted from the book of the same name by John O’Hurley, host of The National Dog Show Presented by Purina Thanksgiving Day special on NBC. The children’s musical production is part of National Dog Show Month in Philadelphia, which occurs every year in conjunction with the Kennel Club of Philadelphia’s National Dog Show.

The play is a Starving Artist Prevention production. To get your tickets call 484-809-4216.
