Montgomery County Has the Second Most Bridges in Pa. According to Stacker

Bridges are important connective tissues across the U.S. Some can be awe-inspiring structures while others are simple constructions connecting roadways or offering passage over rivers and creeks.

According to a national analysis, Pennsylvania has the #11 densest concentration of bridges in the U.S. with 19.2 bridges per 100 miles of public road.

When broken down by county, TruckInfo.net found that Montgomery County has the second most bridges in the state with Allegheny County coming in first.

The rankings are based on data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.

Here is how all five local counties ranked.

Montgomery County earned the second spot with 778 bridges and a 15.3% share of bridges in poor condition.

Chester County ranked No. 4 with 682 bridges with a 16.0% share of bridges in poor condition.

Bucks County took the No. 5 spot with 675 bridges with a 20.3% share of bridges in poor condition.

Philadelphia came in at No. 9 with a total of 585 bridges and a 15.2% share of bridges in poor condition.

Delaware County was No. 22 out of 50 with a total of 383 bridges and a 14.4% share of bridges in poor condition.
