Helen Leicht, former WXPN radio host.

Philadelphia radio fixture Helen Leicht will be inducted into Philadelphia Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame at a November 17 ceremony in Bala Cynwyd, writes Brian A. Saunders for the Philly Voice.

Leicht started her radio career at WIOQ in 1976, where she created “Breakfast With The Beatles” and “Leicht Lunch” programs. She moved to WXPN in 1990, where she remained for over three decades.

Leicht retired in March 2022. Now, she is ready for the next step in her career.

She is starting a new online show on the Folk Music Notebook. The weekly program, “Acoustic Sunday,” will explore acoustic music by showcasing established acts and up-and-comers. It will debut on November 6 at 10 a.m.

“I have spent my life listening, sharing, attending and enjoying and presenting music of all kinds to listeners of all kinds,” said Leicht.

“Join me as we explore the most fascinating new artists as well as our contemporaries and those who set the acoustic path over the past 100 years here in the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Europe, along with a continued interest in the rich musical home of Philadelphia.”
