FoodChasers Kitchen in Elkins Park, run by sisters Maya and Kala Johnstone, is the perfect place to grab a delicious cheesesteak, reports Mike Jerrick for FOX 29.

Before opening the popular spot, both sisters were principals at local schools. However it was during the pandemic that the twins decided to retire from their previous careers and open their own restaurant.

The eatery truly took off after Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts gave it a shoutout before the Super Bowl.

He had previously been at FoodChasers Kitchen where the sisters taught him to make his own cheesesteak, which is available on the menu as the Jalen special.

But this time, it was the news anchor’s turn to make his own cheesesteak.

“We’re the cheerleaders today, Mike,” said the sisters. “You get to think of the Mike Jerrick special.”

While he was there, they also gave him some advice: not to hold back on what he wanted to include on the sandwich.

“There’s no such thing as weird around here, this is FoodChasers Kitchen,” they said.

In the end, the cheesesteak looked and tasted pretty good, as everybody agreed.

Watch the entire segment at FoodChasers Kitchen in Elkins Park at FOX 29.
