Abington Third Grader with a Huge Heart Holds Holiday Toy Drive
Abington third grader Calvin Grasso wants to make sure every kid in town gets a toy this holiday season with the help of Make Every Kid Happy Toy Drive, writes Matteo Iadonisi for 6abc.
Calvin was a 6-year-old first-grade student when he founded the toy drive. He and his mother, Madeleine, joined forces with the Upper Moreland Township Police Department to collect toys in front of partner stores to benefit Toys for Tots.
“I was in the car driving back from school and I told my mom that it’s nice that I always get toys,” said Calvin. “And she said not everyone gets toys. So, I thought of a way I could help.”
The drive is now in its third year and is popping up at various shops in Montgomery County. The toys are being collected in November and December.
“It’s pretty awesome to see a whole community come together because this little kid’s heart had an idea to try to get some place for some people,” said Madeleine Grasso.
