The Perkiomen Valley girls’ basketball team is willing to put in the hard work and sweat to go after their dreams, writes Owen McCue of City of Basketball Love for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Two years ago, the Vikings set their sights on winning the Pioneer Athletic Conference championship, and after a run to the conference title game in 2021, last year they won their first PAC championship in 7 years.

This year the team’s goal is the state championship.

Five of the Vikings’ starters from last year have returned this season, including forward Quinn Boettinger (16.4 points, 6.5 rebounds per game) and wing Grace Galbavy (13.3 points, 3.4 assists, 8.3 rebounds per game). And two more starters will be back on the roster.

“My job got tougher,” Coach John Russo said. “Seven of them have really never not started for me… We really have seven starters and it’s an ongoing conversation.”

Junior Lena Stein said going for state gold this year gives the team a goal to work towards.

Russo added the competitive level of his team continues to be high. They are putting in the work to earn that championship.
