Bala Cynwyd’s Chef Mitsutaka Harada is the man behind Sushi Suite, the most exclusive omakase in Philadelphia, writes Ben Silver for Main Line Today.

Sushi Suite is inside the sushi bar Izakaya in Fishtown and invites diners on a unique gastronomic journey that combines traditional Japanese culinary artistry with western flavors.

When guests arrive, they are ushered into a back room – a speakeasy with a level of exclusivity, along with the $185 price tag. There, they are introduced to Harada who curates the delicious experience.

Harada is a Temple University graduate. Thanks to his background working at Chinese and Japanese restaurants back home in Japan, he was hired by chef Masaharu Morimoto at his namesake restaurant.

From there, he worked at different restaurants, including Sushi Hatsu BYOB in Ambler, until being noticed by SimpleVenue, the business behind Sushi Suite.

“All of our sushi chefs at Sushi Suite came from other high-end omakase restaurants and apprenticed under master sushi chefs that were given this same chance at some point in their career to run their own counter,” said SimpleVenue founder Michael Sinensky.

“Chef Mitsutaka Harada learned under Chef Morimoto, but now it’s his turn to shine.”
