Hatboro Bakery Hits a Home Run with Phillies-themed Treats for Red October
Last year during the World Series, Lochel’s Bakery in Hatboro showed its Philly pride with Phils-inspired cupcakes, cookies, and doughnuts, and now the bakery is doing it again for Red October.
Co-owner Kathleen Lochel said their Phillie Phanatic doughnut which is stuffed with sweet marshmallow cream was the biggest hit, writes Wakisha Bailey, Tom Daughtery, Rory Hardenstine for CBS News.
“People love them,” she said.
Other cool bakery goods that reflect Phillies pride include a pound cake that looks like the Phanatic, a “Philadelphia is for homers” cake as well as individual player cookies.
Lochel added that the Phillies postseason run is great for the local economy.
“It’s great. It’s great for small business. I don’t really feel that many people realize what the Philly sports teams do for the local economy. It’s wonderful. It gets people in a good mood, they’re spending money. They’re giving things away. They’re bringing them to classes, and they’re coming here.”
