Rose Valley’s acclaimed Hedgerow Theater is introducing an updated production of “The Philly Fan”, which features the triumphs and heartbreaks of Philadelphia sports fanatics, according to NBC 10 Philadelphia.

Bruce Graham, a seasoned performer, takes center stage in this one-man show.

“The Philly Fan” is no stranger to the stage, having first been performed in 2004, a time when Philadelphia sports teams were not the most successful.

The play, however, has evolved alongside the fortunes of Philly’s teams. Graham told NBC 10 Philadelphia, “Now that we’re starting to win, it’s giving me more material to work with.”

The updated version of the play is set on the eve of the Super Bowl, which the Eagles won.

The play has also garnered attention from other cities. Chicago expressed interest in having a version written for their sports fans.

Graham recalls an interaction during the Fringe Festival where a woman, neither a Philly native nor a sports fan, expressed that she enjoyed the performance despite her lack of connection to The City of Brotherly Love, or sports.

Opening on September 29, “The Philly Fan” has been extended until October 21.
