MCCC and Grumpy’s Handcarved Sandwiches Hold Sandwich Competition Tonight

Participants from last year's Grumpy Sandwich Challenge.

Teams of Montgomery County Community College’s culinary arts students will use their creativity and skills to develop the best-tasting sandwich during Grumpy’s Sandwich Challenge tonight at 6 PM.

The event takes place in the South Hall building of the Pottstown Campus.

The community is invited to come and cheer on the teams as they have 45 minutes to make their masterpieces using secret ingredients that will be revealed at the start of the competition.

The judging criteria includes presentation, taste and creativity in using the secret ingredients.

The winning team will receive naming rights for their sandwich, which will appear on Gumpy’s menu for one year. Grumpy’s graciously will donate $2 of the purchase of each sandwich to Montco’s Pottstown Campus Excellence Fund.

In addition to naming rights, the winning team will receive one free course at MCCC’s Hospitality Institute and a cash prize and culinary items from Grumpy’s. All participants will receive t-shirts, aprons and hats.

This is the second Sandwich Challenge at MCCC sponsored by Sheila and Gene Dugan, owners of Grumpy’s Handcarved Sandwiches.

MCCC’s Hospitality Institute is the region’s home for innovative, affordable culinary arts education and training, as well as non-credit culinary enthusiast and professional development course offerings

Construction is currently underway for a new building on the Blue Bell Campus scheduled to open in fall of 2024.
