Award-winning Bryn Mawr lash artist Deneen Marcel crafts not just lash extensions, but confidence, one meticulous lash at a time, writes Melissa Jacobs for Main Line Tonight.

She first learned about lash extensions on a trip to Los Angeles in 2004, a beauty innovation barely known at the time.

Marcel embarked on a journey to master the art, traveling between LA and NYC to learn from the pioneers.

Hours of practice later, she introduced the novel beauty solution to her clientele at her Rittenhouse Square salon, becoming one of Philadelphia’s first lash extension experts.

Marcel’s expertise quickly garnered attention, and a Channel 6 segment catapulted her into the limelight, yielding 300 appointments within hours of airing.

But her journey to success was not without hurdles. Three decades ago, as a newly-wed mother to a premature baby boy and an entrepreneur launching her first hair salon near Washington Square, Marcel had to juggle many roles, often bringing her baby to work.

Her journey saw a significant milestone when she relocated her business to Bryn Mawr in 2015, with a loyal clientele in tow.

Marcel, now a beacon in the beauty industry, believes in defining one’s own beauty standards. “We can define our own beauty, and that empowers us,” she asserts.
