Brass Collar Brewing Pays Homage to Souderton’s Railroad History

When the owners of Brass Collar Brewing Co. decided to establish their taproom in Souderton, they knew they wanted to pay homage to the town’s railroad history, writes Michele Haddon for Bucks County Courier Times.

That is why they decided to renovate an old freight house which is part of the historic train station in downtown Souderton.

Ben Israel and Brody Bisson have been brewing beers under the name Radiant Beer Project since the summer of 2020, but soon they will be opening the doors to their first taproom.

And with the taproom comes a rebranding to Brass Collar which is a reference to railroad conductors or officials.

“Souderton, when we set our sights on there, we really fell in love with the community. That whole town was built on two railroads merging,” Israel said.

“We wanted to go with that theme since it was more reflective of that community. Especially being the first brewery in Souderton, we wanted to show the town we have their back and show that appreciation.”

The brewery is a part of the borough’s revitalization efforts to bring new life to three former SEPTA buildings originally built in 1926.

The main train station and the waiting station are now the home of the bar restaurant Northbound and Waite Station Nails & Spa.
