September is Hunger Action Month. According to Feeding Pennsylvania, almost 2 million Pennsylvanians don’t have enough food and other resources.

In an effort to work toward a healthier Pennsylvania, the Shapiro Administration has awarded $1.6 million in state grants to food banks, pantries, and soup kitchens.

Narberth Community Food Bank received a $17K grant from the state, writes Max Bennett for Patch. The funding is through The Emergency Food Assistance Program.

“No one should go hungry in a state with the wealth and bounty we have in Pennsylvania,” said Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding. “But far too often families do not know where their next meal is coming from, and they need our help.”

The grants are funding projects like the expansion of cold storage, warehouse space and delivery trucks for distributing food.
