From College Acquaintances to Soulmates: A Main Line Love Story
It’s a Main Line love story.
Matt and Melanie met for the first time in a math class at St. Joseph’s University. They struck up a quick friendship, but when he got around to asking her out, she already had a boyfriend., writes Kellie Patrick Gates for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
They lost touch for a while during grad school, but when Patrick decided to get his teaching certificate, he looked Melanie up for advice since she was a second-grade teacher at Sabold Elementary in the Springfield School District
They met at a Broomall Panera, where they rekindled their friendship, which led to romance.
The couple, from Broomall and Havertown, respectively, were united in their passion for teaching, love for animals, and shared memories from St. Joseph’s University.
Matt proposed to Melanie Oct. 21, 2021, at St. Joseph’s University, where they first met.
Fast forward to a July 8 wedding; the couple celebrated with a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Matthias Catholic Church in Bala Cynwyd, followed by a grand reception at Radnor Valley Country Club in Villanova.
“What I love most about Matt is…he makes me laugh,” Melanie shared. Matt added, “I can really and truly be myself around Mel.”
