TikTok Star Draws Crowds at Blue Bell Basketball Game
A famous TikTok influencer drew crowds of teens at Wentz Run Park in Blue Bell Saturday for fierce competition, writes Aaron Carter for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Jake West has risen in popularity, accruing one million followers, thanks to his viral dances. However, the court is the place that the seventeen-year-old has called home.
“He likes to be known as a basketball player first versus TikTok,” West’s mom told The Inquirer.
“I think he gets nervous sometimes about that. He wants to be seen seriously as a basketball player,” she said.
Social media giant Overtime hosted the Saturday event which invited the best ballers around the region to play against the TikTok star. On West’s team were La Salle Forward Daeshon Shepherd, Kaseem and Kareem Watkins, both forwards at Cal State’s Bakersfield.
West will play for George School’s boys’ basketball team this year. He has an array of Division 1 scholarship offers from schools such as Drexel, Mississippi State, Fairfield, and Lafayette.
