A Lower Moreland Summer Camp Finds Fun Ways to Keep Kids Safe in Extreme Heat

Outdoor fun is what summer camp is all about, but when the temperature really heats up, the safety of the kids can become a concern.

One Lower Moreland summer camp was recently spotlighted by CBS News Philadelphia for finding fun ways to beat the heat.

Kids at the Murray School got to cool off with some water fun on one of the hottest days of the summer, while the adults watching over them made sure they also stayed hydrated, writes Matt Petrillo.

“Especially with some of the heat we’re having right now we have to keep them cool,” Matt Gallagher, the Lower Moreland Summer Rec Director, said.

He used to be a camper there himself, and now leads the program.

“So I went here as a kid from first to sixth grade and ended up working as a counselor for six years through high school and college,” Gallagher said.
