Deputy Attorney General, Rod J. Rosenstein, who attributed his straightforward values to growing up in Lower Moreland during his confirmation hearing, recommended the removal of James Comey as FBI Director, writes Aubrey Whelan for Philly.com.
Rosenstein began his education in Lower Moreland before going to Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania and graduating summa cum laude with a degree in economics. He then went to Harvard Law School before joining the Department of Justice where he has served as the U.S. attorney for Maryland under the Presidencies of both George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
Prior to Comey’s controversial firing, Rosenstein wrote a memo advocating the move following allegations of Russian interference in the recent election. However, according to the White House, the decision was actually made due to Comey’s handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server.

In his recommendation, Rosenstein wrote that he could not “defend the director’s handling of the conclusion of the investigation of Secretary Clinton’s emails, and I do not understand his refusal to accept the nearly universal judgment that he was mistaken.”
After the decision, Rosenstein did not comment on his role and instead told reporters “I’m not going to talk about that. Are you surprised by that?”
