Mount Airy Skincare Company Aims to Land Big-Box Retailer Deal
SCB Naturals, a Mount Airy skincare company, is hoping to land its product on the shelves of a big-box retailer in 2024 and grow its e-commerce, writes Lisa Dukart for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The company was launched by Philadelphia native Lakisha Bullock in 2015. She started making her medicine after she had trouble finding products to treat her own skin ailments. She developed eczema after giving birth to her son.
Bullock has wanted to pursue skincare since she was a child. At 11, she became interested in the beauty industry after being bullied. She used her skills in nail, hair, and skincare not only on herself but on her friends and family.
“I wanted to feel empowered,” she said.
She attended cosmetology school in 2011, becoming a licensed cosmetologist.
Today, her company is known for hand-made bar soaps, face oils, cleansers, moisturizers, and serums. She makes everything with ingredients found in nature, like herbs and flowers.
Her brand truly took off during the pandemic, when her business quintupled. And now, she is looking to grow further, both with brick-and-mortar as well as online.
