It is not uncommon for presidential candidates to have billionaires behind the scenes supporting their campaigns, writes Ryan King for the New York Post.

For the 2024 U.S. presidential election, however, most of the major donors, including Bala Cynwyd billionaire Jeff Yass, are avoiding putting all their money on one candidate. Instead, they are spreading smaller donations around to different people or agendas.

Under federal law, donors are limited to how much money they give to a campaign directly so many are choosing to give large sums to Super PACs that are backing candidates they find interesting.

Yass, a co-founder of Susquehanna International Group, donated $200,000 to the Opportunity Matters Action Fund in March, May, and June. In the past, he has donated to the campaigns of Bob Kerrey in 1992, Ralph Nader in 2004, and Rudy Giuliani in 2008.

Other notable billionaires shelling out the big bucks for 2024 presidential hopefuls include Larry Ellison, co-founder and chief technology officer of Oracle, and August Busch III, the former Anheuser-Busch chairman.
