For Downingtown chef Andrew Hufnagel, his love of the culinary craft stems back to childhood. Main Line Today’s Best Chef of 2023 says that his father was his biggest inspiration growing up. His father, who was a foodie, exposed young Hufnagel to an abundance of restaurants, writes Ed Williams for Main Line Today.

Now, the 20-year-industry veteran is leading the kitchen at De La Terre, an upscale French restaurant along the Brandywine. He has experience working with Philadelphia greats, including Stephan Starr, Jean Georges, and Jose Garces.

Hufnagel’s award-winning restaurant, Zola Kitchen & Wine Bar, is in State College. However, his decision to open another brick-and-mortar place was based on his desire to be closer to friends and family.

He also places an emphasis on sauce, which he aims to make three times as flavorful as the corresponding dishes.

Guests can treat themselves to dishes such Ora King Salmon, Crème Brulee, Oysters, Wagyu Strip Steak, and more.
