Blue Bell Place, a senior living community in Blue Bell, is using virtual reality to help its residents live richer and more engaging lives, according to a staff report from the Daily Local News.

Pat Keaveney is among those who are taking full advantage of the virtual reality offerings. The 87-year-old loves to observe birds and learn more about them, so she was happy to take part in the Montgomery County community’s recent class that uses EngageVR.

The technology provided her with an up-close look at many of the birds she learned about. The class was so successful that another one was created, this time to learn about birds that are active at night, said Blue Bell Place’s community life director Cindy Franklin.

“Our EngageVR introduces topics like birds to the residents with modern technology in a way that a video or music cannot,” said Franklin. “It is a very cool way to get them involved in a favorite or new subject they would like to explore.”

She added that the use of modern technology is helping many of the residents thrive at Blue Bell Place.
