In the micro company category (10 to 14 employees) of Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2023 Best Places to Work, several Montco companies shined, writes Lisa Dukart for The Philadelphia Business Journal.

Commonwealth Insurance Advantage in Fort Washington earned the top spot. The insurance company works with businesses like assisted living facilities, dentist offices and grocery stores on insurance needs.

The employees there describe their company culture as “Work/play hard.” The president of the company, Eric Bossard, said that the company sponsors different lunches and events to show appreciation for its employees. It also offers “unexpected days off [and] company gatherings” like happy hours and sporting events.

Acumen in Blue Bell earned the second spot in the micro company category. CEO Kathleen Brunner said that the company was offering hybrid and remote work long before the pandemic.

The company, which uses technology and data to create solutions for clients, has monthly Friday happy hour calls prior to the end of the workday and prioritizes continuing education for all employees.

Cressa, a commercial real estate advisory company with a Conshohocken office, and Mechanical X Advantage in Plymouth Meeting were finalists in the micro company category.
