Tom Chen, a senior at Upper Dublin High School, has taken his art of photography outside of the classroom. His photography is on display at Ambler Savings Bank through the month of June.

Steve Hopkins, an art teacher at the high school, selected Tom for the opportunity to display his artwork because of his talent and hard work.

“I’ve learned as much from him as I believe he has learned from me,” said Hopkins. “For me, Tom embodies what a photographer should be; a self-reliant, self-motivated, and highly creative individual who shows us the world through a different lens.”

Tom likes to travel to find unique scenes to capture. “For me, traveling means finding something unexpected and unprecedented. I find neglected urban and natural scenes and love introducing the viewer to a different perspective to interpret the world in a new way,” Tom said.

In the fall, Tom will attend Drexel University for classes in art and photography to continue building his skills.

The Bank offers the opportunity to display artwork in the Ambler branch lobby, to local schools on an ongoing basis.

“Supporting education is a core value here at Ambler Savings Bank. Offering the lobby display case to local schools is another way we live out that value,” says Carolyn Watson, Marketing Officer, Ambler Savings Bank.
