Burnout Drove Hatboro College Influencer to Drop Off Social Media
Influencer Hailie Dall, a Hatboro native who graduated from Temple University last year, began her TikTok journey during the pandemic, writes Beatrice Forman for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
She started posting videos about her student life with the goal of keeping herself accountable as she quit smoking and put self-care as a priority. Over the next three years, she reached over 740,000 followers. However, she added that she did not have “enough time and mental energy” to monetize her postings.
Her videos depicted a person who perfectly balanced sorority functions, a pharmacy job, and midterms. But the pressure to always appear both mentally and physically healthy was tiring.
“I was so focused on the hustle and grind mentality that I wasn’t taking care of myself,” she said.
While she was actively posting videos, Dall received mostly positive attention, but after a while, she started to feel burned out.
She stopped posting in October 2022.
Dall, who has now settled into a less hectic routine of working in health-care technology sales, is not sure she plans to post ever again.
