Montgomery County couple Dave and Sharren Filan, who met while in college at Temple Ambler, have spent nearly six decades just as in love as the moment they first fell for each other, writes Kellie Patrick Gates for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

At the time, Dave lived in Plymouth Township, while Sharren lived in Huntingdon Valley. She caught his eye when she intercepted a football he and his friend were throwing and ran with it to the ladies’ room. He asked her out on a date, and she accepted – and promptly beat him at bowling. Dave was smitten.

“I started following her around like a puppy dog,” he said. “I started cutting classes to be with her.”

His feelings were reciprocated, and the couple wed a few years later in 1964. When their daughter Donna was born, the family did not have a lot of money, but they had a lot of fun.

On their 30th anniversary, they renewed their vows. They traveled a lot together, including to England, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Hawaii. Today, they are both retired and just as happy together as they have ever been.
