Carolyn Watson, the Marketing Officer of Ambler Savings Bank, was recently awarded the 40 Under 40 Award by the Independent Community Bankers of America. She was one of five marketers from around the country who was acknowledged for her work in the banking world.

Last week, she was honored at the PA Bankers Association for the award.

Independent Banker asked Watson a few questions related to her work and what her thought process is when it comes to her role at the bank.

When it comes to creating an effective marketing strategy, Watson says that keeping the customer experience top of mind is very important, especially in regards to planning all marketing strategy.

“How will they engage with your campaign?” Watson said. “How will they take the next step? How will they get more information on the product or service?”

Back in 2021, Watson created the company’s Bank Local campaign. The following year, she conceptualized and managed the creation of TV commercials featuring real-life customers of the bank. 

The digital ads created from the campaign have resulted in a 2,000% increase in traffic to the bank’s website.

“Carolyn successfully organized over a dozen employees, two off-site filming locations and the videographer over months of planning to turn a finished product we are proud to see on-air,” said Roger Zacharia, President and CEO of Ambler Savings Bank.

Watson says that the marketing program has had a great effect on the bank, highlighting that it has seen increased brand awareness and customer engagement.

The incorporation of new tools like Google Ads into the website and advertising has had a major impact.
