The construction for Norristown’s Justice Center project is making progress in its second phase. On Wednesday, Montgomery County officials gathered at the site for a “topping off” ceremony.

The second phase of the $415-million project involves the building of the new facility. The New Justice Center is set to be six stories with new courtrooms and offices. It will connect to the historic courthouse.

The project still has ways to go, with expected completion by 2026.

Discussions for the structure started as early as 2015, and the groundbreaking began in July of 2021, chronicled Rachel Ravina for Main Line Media News.

The worksite is expecting to see 200 laborers by this summer.

The third phase of the project is estimated to begin in Summer 2024 and will involve renovating the courthouse.

“While we have a long way to go until before this project is fully complete, we still have a lot of progress to celebrate,” said Montgomery County Commissioner Chairman Ken Lawrence.
