Gladwyne’s Marisa Magnatta of the Preston & Steve Show Celebrates Two Decades at WMMR
Gladwyne’s Marisa Magnatta, the radio producer and gal-about-town, is celebrating two decades at WMMR, which is half her life. Victor Fiorillo covered the career milestone in the Philadelphia Magazine.
Magnatta, of the Preston & Steve Show, grew up in Cherry Hill, then moved to Montgomery County.
“Main Line-ish,” she said. “Okay, Gladwyne, but I don’t like to say that because it sounds bougie.”
Her first job was as a lifeguard at Belmont Hills pool in Bala Cynwyd.
“I had to get my certification at the last minute because my brother, who was a lifeguard there, decided to go to Woodstock ’99, and he needed me to cover for him,” she recalled.
Magnatta started working as a station promotions intern in 2003.
“When Preston & Steve moved from Y100 to WMMR in 2005, I was there temporarily to help them get adjusted,” she said. “I never left.”
Through her job, she has met many famous people, including Dave Grohl, Bradley Cooper, Rob McElhenney, and M. Night Shyamalan.
However, her favorite moment from the Preston & Steve show does not include any celebrities.
It was “when we dropped 10,000 marbles down the Art Museum steps in honor of the Phillies losing their 10,000th game,” she said.
