This year’s graduating class is entering a competitive workforce. While some jobseekers may submit hundreds of applications, there’s a better strategy for finding a job that you love.

Here is how to get the job you want, according to career advice experts.

Ask Yourself These Three Questions

Harvard Career Advisor Gorick Ng tells CNBC Make It to consider the following:

  1. Where do I actually want to work?
  2. What do I actually want to do?
  3. Where do I actually want to live?

These questions may yield answers that help you identify what you want out of a job.

Rethink Job-Hopping

Avoid jumping jobs without any direction. It can make your career life chaotic, and prevent you from taking the long view, according to career coach Phoebe Gavin.

Don’t Assume You Have it in the Bag

Just because you land a job and are good at it doesn’t mean you’ll get a promotion. Jenny Cheng, vice president of Google Wallet tells CNBC that you should be clear about what you want, look for opportunities, and check in with your manager to see if you’re on track.
