Escapopolis, a new Montgomery County escape-room brand, is set to open May 5 at 325 W. Main St., Lansdale, a former retail location. The Reporter unlocked its details.

The site will hold four themed rooms solvable by teams as small as two and as large as 10. According to the designers, the time needed to complete all the puzzles and devise a way out should range, in general, 30–60 minutes.

Escapopolis owners Kim Wysocki and John Madara envision an eventual “city” of themed challenge locations, hence the company’s name, a portmanteau of metropolis and escape.

“Our … rooms were designed by Giant Dream Productions, a nationally recognized escape room fabricator from Chester, Pa.,” Madara said.

Wysocki added, “Escape rooms … make you think in a way that you aren’t used to thinking every day. It is crucial to use teamwork, communication, and creative ways of thinking to be successful.

“You don’t have to be super smart in order to win. There is something to do for everyone in your group.”

Lansdale Borough economic development consultant Stephen Barth sees the business’ entry as an admirable effort to further the area’s ongoing economic vitality.

“[Escapopolis] is transforming our downtown into an entertainment destination,” he said.
