Montgomery County travelers can benefit from the expansion of Avelo Airlines in Delaware. The Houston-based airline operates out of Wilmington Airport and flies to five destinations, writes Jacob Owens for the Delaware Business Times.

Now the commercial airline is adding nine additional destinations to five new states. Montgomery County residents can take a quick trip to New Castle and fly to Savannah, multiple locations in North and South Carolina, Nashville, as well as Daytona Beach and Coacoa Beach in Florida.

“[Our initial market success] gave us the confidence to say, ‘OK, we can expand. We know people in the Northeast like to go to the Carolinas in the summer and like to go to Nashville. So, let’s start expanding there so we can really capture more of that pent up demand,’” said Trevor Yealy, head of network planning for Avelo.

At a $29 base fare, flights won’t cost travelers a pretty penny to go on a sunny trip to the beach. Avelo started flying out of Wilmington-New Castle airport in February.

Previously, Delaware was the only state without commercial air service.
