SoulJoel’s, the Montgomery County comedy club, navigated the challenges of the pandemic by remaining mobile. It’s temporary show sites in Royersford and Jeffersonville kept it moving forward while also providing the agility to entertain audiences safely.

As the pandemic’s spread faded in late 2022, SoulJoel’s put down stakes permanently in Pottstown, at the historic Sunnybrook Ballroom (50 N. Sunnybrook Rd.).

Revival

It’s organizers are returning for 2023, announcing an April roster of comedians designed to kick off the spring-summer entertainment season in a big way.

Upcoming highlights include:

Music

The Sunnybrook Ballroom, the biggest ballroom east of the Mississippi River, is also having plenty of music festivals and concerts in April.

Those closest on the calendar are:

  • Bandapalooza, Apr. 7
  • Morgan Myles (The Voice, Nashville Industry Music Awards), Apr. 16
  • Polka Fest, Apr. 23
  • Glenn Miller Orchestra, Apr. 27

Also returning are SoulJoel’s biweekly bingo nights, Apr. 5 and Apr. 19.

Food

The Sunnybrook pipeline of news regarding its revival includes plans to reopen Gatsby’s Pub. The onsite eatery, closed for three years, is working toward an Apr. relaunch.

Many Reasons to Visit

“Over the past hundred days we’ve quickly established that we can put on a wide variety of events,” said Sunnybrook owner Joel Richardson.

“We’re giving every person a different reason to come to Sunnybrook, so no matter what kind of event you’re into, we’re doing something for everyone.”

Complete details about SoulJoel’s — dates, times, performers — are at its website.
