Local fans of ethnic food don’t have to climb Mount Everest to get well-crafted, authentic Indian fare. Everest Indian Cuisine, 2651 Huntingdon Pike, Huntingdon Valley, provides excellent Indian and Nepalese meals with great service in a lively setting.

The Montgomery County restaurant has been operating for over six months.

Owner Bibek Khadka ensures each dish is full of fresh flavor and infused with passion. He’s enjoyed introducing his neighborhood to his culture’s unique flavor profiles, finding the experience, “… a dream come true for me.”

He continued: “During our many years of experience in the food service business, we have realized the demand for fresh, nutritious, Indian food at affordable prices.

“At Everest Indian Cuisine, we offer quality Indian food in a comfortable atmosphere. We have a traditional Indian menu — as well as dishes you don’t see … around town.”

In explaining that latter distinction, Khadka cites his tandoori chicken wings, which are marinated in chef’s special herbs and spices and grilled in a tandoor oven, an Indian urn-shaped cooking vessel usually made of clay.

“These are some of our customers’ favorites,” Khadka said of the dish.

Other menu standouts include:

  • Chicken tikka masala
  • Kadai lamb
  • Tandoori salmon
  • Malai kofta, a meatball dish in a creamy sauce
  • Saag paneer, a combination of spinach and leafy greens mixed with Indian cottage cheese

Naan breads with various flavorings are also popular. And traditional desserts include Kheer-cardamom-flavored rice pudding and kulfi, a traditional Indian ice cream.

After enjoying a meal, a happy customer posted on Facebook: “The food here was excellent, some of the best I’ve ever had.

“The samosas [a fried South Asian pastry] were handmade and piping hot. All of our entrees were delicious, and portions generous with plenty of rice to share for the table.

“Service was excellent, could not have been more attentive.

“Definitely will come back.”

Khadka also offers catering services for weddings, corporate events, and team lunches/dinners.

“We offer catering services for big or small occasions. Everest Cuisine is happy to serve guests our best food and services,” he said.

The restaurant is open for dine-in, take-out and provides free delivery six days a week (every day but Monday, when it is closed).
