Montco/Delco Habitat for Humanity Workshop Teaches Women How to ‘Build the World’

By

Women Build, a Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery and Delaware Counties workshop held in West Norriton, invited women to work on construction projects during March, no matter their previous experience. Matteo Iadonisi constructed its 6abc story.

The workshop had participants proudly wearing their “Girls Build the World” t-shirts that emphasize the effort.

As part of the training, crew leader Patti Post from Perkasie helped women construct the interior walls of the bathroom for a new Lansdowne housing unit.

Rebecca Cain, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery and Delaware Counties, said that the organization needs all hands on deck to ensure that workforce housing is available to individuals and families with low or moderate incomes.

“We’ve been around for about 30 years,” she said. “We’ve built 117 homes. We are looking in the next three to four years to put together another 35 to 40 houses in the two counties.”

But to achieve this, “… we definitely need the support of the community and your hands and heart and talents and treasures in order to make that happen,” she explained.

Women Build workshops will continue throughout March.
