MONTCO Today Honored with 2022 Media Award from the Philadelphia Area Tennis District

MONTCO Today was honored by the Philadelphia Area Tennis District (PATD) at a Mar. 12, 2023, brunch banquet at the Green Valley Country Club, Lafayette Hill. The online publication received the organization’s 2022 Media Award.
The PATD is the regional subset of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), the national governing body for tennis and fervid supporter of the sport. From its Valley Forge headquarters, the Middle States USTA chapter covers Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and northwestern Virginia.
The list of 2023 honorees included high school and college coaches, ranked players, mentors, volunteers, and instructors.
Accepting the Media Award was MONTCO Today editor Dan Weckerly.
“I believe I may be the only one here with no direct tie to tennis,” Weckerly said in his acceptance remarks. “In fact, I don’t even play pickleball.”
“But MONTCO Today does publish 11 issues per week, highlighting the upbeat, positive, inspiring things that happen in Montgomery County. And the sport of tennis clearly checks all those boxes as far as content goes.
“It’s been my pleasure to bring tennis to my readers, and I look forward to continuing to tell compelling stories about this sport.
“I don’t know who among the PATD found MONTCO Today worthy of this honor. But I’m sure glad he or she did.”
