Montgomery County officials authorized a design and construction agreement for the future King of Prussia Rail project that establishes reimbursements and other procedural guidelines with SEPTA, writes Rachel Ravina for the Mainline Media News.

According to Bill Hartman, trails and open space planning manager with Montgomery County Planning Commission, once construction starts, a portion of the expansion to the rail line will overlap with the Chester Valley Trail.

The King of Prussia train venture will add five extra stops along the Norristown High Speed Line, one of which will be near the intersection of Henderson Road and Saulin Boulevard.

“East of the planned Henderson Road station, the King of Prussia road’s elevated tracks will cross over the Chester Valley Trail at Saulin Boulevard,” said Hartman. “SEPTA is going to temporarily occupy land within the Chester Valley Trail’s right-of-way at the overhead rail crossing to facilitate construction of the elevated guide way structure.”

He then added that SEPTA will “coordinate with the county regarding the temporary rerouting of the trail during construction of the King of Prussia Rail project.”
