Upon Completion, This Bridgework Project Will Leave One Montco Community Smiling
The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners has approved a contract that will restore the long-abandoned Keim Street Bridge in Pottstown. Joe Zlomek connected readers with its details in The Sanatoga Post.
The contract covers the services necessary to redesign and replace the span, which connected Pottstown to North Coventry from its 1935 opening to its 2010 closure.
It was declared off limits owing to structural deficiencies.
The latest contract for the revival addresses gaps in a former agreement; they included utility clearances, design updates, and PennDOT suggestions.
The bridge has stood abandoned for so long because its restoration was delayed by influences ranging from federal regulations to the pandemic, according to a Pottstown Mercury story.
More on replacing and reopening Pottstown’s Keim Street Bridge is at The Sanatoga Post.
