Montgomery County Celebrates April Holidays, both Festive and Faith-Filled

The April convergence of Passover and Easter have filled the Montgomery County events calendar across all its towns and boroughs. The Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board has collected Easter 2023 details and presents them in this basket round-up, tied with a springtime bow.
Easter Bunny Express
Colebrookdale Railroad, Boyertown
Now through Apr. 9
The historic Colebrookdale Railroad Easter Bunny Express chugs out of its Boyertown station with the Easter Bunny himself aboard, giving gifts that include a coloring book and crayons for children 12 and under. They’ll also hear The Velveteen Rabbit read aloud, receive a coloring book and crayons, and (of course) hunt for eggs. Excursions are timed for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner.
Pictures with the Easter Bunny
King of Prussia Mall
Now through Apr. 8
Two settings for photos with the Easter Bunny are ready for photos at King of Prussia Mall. No appointment is needed, and pictures are reserved online.
Easter Egg Hunt
Althouse Arboretum, Pottstown
Apr. 1 (tomorrow)
Althouse Arboretum has ramped up the traditional egg hunt by adding crafts, games, prizes, food, and a trail walk. The Pottstown event runs 10 AM to 1 PM and is $7 per child.
Easter Art Virtual Tour
Glencairn Museum, Bryn Athyn
Apr. 4
This Christian-centric virtual tour covers the full Easter story as captured in the Gospels, from the Last Supper to the Resurrection and Ascension of Christ. Glencairn Museum artwork — stained-glass windows, sculpture, and paintings — threads the narrative together. The tour also traces the Pitcairn family traditions related to Easter, including three seasonal dioramas that were a big part of their annual observance of Holy Week.
This event is again virtual this year, owing to ongoing restoration work onsite in Bryn Athyn.
Passover Services and Seder
Congregation Beth Or, Maple Glen
Apr. 5
Congregation Beth Or is holding a community Seder in Maple Glen for the first two days of Passover. Stay after Passover services to enjoy brunch. Yizkor is recited during services on the eighth day.
Passover Community Seder
Lubavitch of Montgomery County, Fort Washington
Apr. 5
Relive the Exodus, discover the eternal meaning of the Haggadah, and enjoy a Fort Washington Seder complete with hand-baked Shmurah Matzah, wine, and a wonderful dinner spiced with unique traditional customs.
Easter Bunny Visit
Stone and Key Cellars, Montgomeryville
Apr. 8
Kids can get their photos with the Easter Bunny, get their faces painted, decorate cookies, and look for a hidden egg. Parents can sample wines and cider. Stone and Key Cellars‘ Montgomeryville spring event has something for everyone.
Ardmore Business Association Easter Egg Hunt
Schauffele Plaza, Ardmore
Apr. 8
The Ardmore Business Association is bringing in the Easter Bunny to oversee an egg hunt throughout Ardmore. The quest starts with a map and includes collecting candy along the route. At the conclusion there are prizes and even more treats. Best, this event is free.
Easter Brunch
Elmwood Park Zoo, Norristown
Apr. 16–17
Elmwood Park Zoo’s traditional Easter brunches are back in Norristown for 2023 with all their engaging details: great food, appearances by (and photos with) the Easter Bunny, animal meet-and-greets, and a chance to explore the zoo as it starts springing back to its colorful self. This is a popular event, so registrations and on-time arrivals are recommended.
