Final Word on Eagles Loss: Elkins Park Fan Fixes Case of Buyer’s Remorse
Malcolm Garland, of Elkins Park, is a proud Eagles fan who was utterly convinced of a Birds win. His faith was so deep, he got an Eagles tattoo celebrating the victory, an adornment that lost its luster in the aftermath. Dave Uram reported Garland’s solution for KYW Newsradio.
“I just felt like we were gonna bring it all the way home,” said the 32-year-old professional mover, assured that Super Bowl LVII rings were a shoo-in.
When things failed to go the Eagles’ way, Garland was not upset or mad.
He was, however, unhappy, given his permanent body art that had been rendered irrelevant.
Still, he did not want to go back on his decision and have the Eagles tattoo removed.
Instead, he devised a unique solution: He added the Michael Jordan Crying meme above the champs tattoo.
Jordan was photographed with tears running down his face during his speech for getting enshrined into the NBA Hall of Fame.
For Garland, this was a connection he could not resist.
“Usually, a lot of my friends, what they do is if you’re salty, they’ll put the Jordan face over your face,” said Garland. “That always was a thing … I decided once I seen that, I was like, ‘That’s exactly how I feel.’”
