West Chester Woman Didn’t Let New Motherhood Stop Her Monumental Achievement at Walt Disney World

A West Chester woman is making some mileage at the 30th annual Walt Disney World Marathon weekend. Hannah Brookes said that she never loved running but fell in love with it ten years ago when her parents got her involved with runDisney as a 21st birthday present, writes TaRhonda Thomas for 6abc.

Over 100,000 racers descended on Orlando’s most popular theme park for the World Marathon weekend. It’s one of the many races that runDisney puts on.

Brookes has completed The Dopey Challenge for all 10 years. It’s when participants run the 5K, 10K, half, and full marathon in just one weekend. All adding up to nearly 50 miles.

She’s what’s known as a Dopey Perfect.

Each year, the pediatric nurse dresses up as a different Disney character for the challenge. This year, she was Daisy Duck.

But despite the cheeky costumes, the training was no walk in the park. Brookes ran every day up until she gave birth to her four-month-old Nathan. But then, she continued with training after the delivery.

“I was on the treadmill rocking the stroller back and forth to try to get him to sleep,” she told 6abc.
