North Montco April Car Show: A High-Octane Day for Car Fans and Corporate Sponsors
The North Montco Education Foundation will host its second annual car show on Apr. 22 at the North Montco Technical Career Center (NMTCC) in Lansdale.
The NMTCC is a technical career center that provides 21 programs of study for students in grades 9–12 from the following school districts:
- Methacton
- North Penn
- Perkiomen Valley
- Souderton Area
- Wissahickon
While still attending their high schools, students can enroll in programs that include coursework on carpentry, machining, culinary arts, and diesel technology.
The curriculum has been strategically designed to lead to essential careers for employers searching for talent among candidates seeking entry to the current workforce.
Sponsors’ Role
Car show’s proceeds, resulting from sponsorship support, go toward the school’s Educational Foundation, which launched in 2020.
Funds from donors and sponsors help provide opportunities for students to develop skills related to their career goals.
The foundation supports students by:
- Covering costs for industry-recognized certifications and licenses
- Purchasing hand tools, personal protective equipment and software
- Supporting students participating in SkillsUSA, a national career and technical student organization. SkillsUSA provides opportunities for North Montco students to:
- Meet others with similar career goals at regional career centers
- Develop leadership skills
- Compete with their newly developed abilities on the district, state, and national levels
The NMTCC community relationship is reciprocal: It trains students with relevant skills and technology to prepare them for jobs in local industries. And in turn, industry partners volunteer on occupational committees or as judges during competitive events.
The school plans several categories in which to compete at its 2023 car show, including best of trucks, street rods, and muscle cars.
Entrant Recognition
The public can participate in the annual car show not only by sponsoring as a commercial entity but also entering a car.
A win in one of its categories translates into not only bragging rights but also receipt of a unique memento of the victory: The trophies awarded at the event will be made by NMTCC welding, auto body, and machinist students.
Interested competitors can register their cars on the website of the North Montco Education Foundation; entries carry a $25 fee.
The General Public
Aside from providing sponsorship, the public can support the NMTCC provides, creating lucrative technical career opportunities for Montgomery County students that benefit the entire community.
It’s also a terrific day out, with music, food trucks, raffles, door prizes, and a fleet of autos that crossover into the realm of art. The Apr. 22 North Montco Car Show runs 11 AM to 2 PM.
It is onsite at the NMTCC campus, 1265 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale.
